Cookie notice

What this site stores in your browser, and what it does not. It is a short list.

The short version

  • The public site sets no cookies: no advertising cookies, no tracking cookies, no analytics cookies.
  • Our analytics are first-party and cookieless, and store nothing in your browser.
  • The only cookies we set are strictly necessary session cookies for our own staff when they sign in.
  • Everything a page loads, fonts included, comes from our own server, so no third party can set a cookie through it.

Because we set no cookies on visitors that are not strictly necessary, we do not show a cookie banner. There is nothing to accept or decline.

Visitors to the public site

Browsing our pages, reading the blog, using the free tools or sending the contact form does not set a cookie. We run no advertising pixels, retargeting tags, social media widgets or third-party analytics, so no one else sets cookies through our pages either.

Some free tools, such as a checklist, may remember your progress in your browser's local storage so it is still there when you come back. That data never leaves your device, we cannot see it, and clearing your browser's site data removes it.

Analytics without cookies

To count visitors without identifying anyone, our server combines each visitor's IP address and browser details with a random value that is replaced every day, and keeps only the resulting one-way code. Nothing is stored in your browser, and because the daily value is deleted, the code cannot follow you from one day to the next. The privacy policy describes exactly what is recorded and for how long.

Staff sign-in

Our own staff sign in to a private console. Signing in sets a session cookie that keeps them signed in. It is strictly necessary for that purpose: it cannot be read by page scripts (it is "HttpOnly"), it is sent only over HTTPS in production, and it contains a random token rather than any personal information. It expires after 3 days, or sooner when they sign out. The staff console also keeps a few display preferences, such as whether the sidebar is open and the colour theme, in local storage.

If you are not one of our staff, none of this is set in your browser.

Everything we store in your browser

Analytics appear nowhere in this table because they store nothing in your browser.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser's settings. Doing so will not affect the public site at all; for staff, blocking cookies prevents signing in.

Changes and contact

If we ever add a cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will update this notice first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before setting it. Questions go to hello@alumic.agency.
